Iguanas in Guayaquil, Ecuador

We had glanced in our lonley planet guide book that there was a park in the city center in Guayaquil where there was a few Iguanas - i though they might at least have been in a specific area cut off from the public.........................boy was i wrong!!!


One of the first things we saw was this guy!!

We arrived at the park at feeding time and there were literally hundreds of the little guys all over the place eating lettuce!!



I love the little guy just left of center with his mouth open, he was known as Eddy Lizzard!!



They're an odd bunch - they stay still a lot!!

Be careful, if u walk under this tree you are guaranteed to get covered in iguana poo or pee!! The do it a lot!!

Here come the Squirrels

After the Iguanas scurry back to the trees after feeding time the squirrels come down to nibble on the leftovers and to do little stunts for the crowd!! They were running along fences, jumping between trees and even dinking Iguana pee!!



"Hey Cyril, is the coast clear?"


The squiirels were even playing chasing with the iguanas........obviously Cyril the squirrel won!!
